Boo, Bill Gates! Although this article makes Apple sound like the bad guys. That's the price of losing your underdog status, I guess, at least for one product.
Two nights ago I was reading in bed and it occurred to me that the book I was reading was probably overdue. I logged on to the Boulder Public Library website, had it renewed and was back in bed in about two minutes. Fantastic!
Libraries may not be on the cutting edge, but neither are most people. It seems to work out as long as the libraries are well funded and tuned-in to user demand (I'm sure this isn't the case everywhere). I would imagine that a significant number of library patrons these days are there for computer, not book, access.
